Process

To address these issues, I grounded the redesign in a multi-layered research approach, combining historical product data, user interviews, persona mapping, and user journey maps. These inputs revealed opportunities to clarify The Mighty’s core promise, highlight credible and relevant health content, personalize onboarding, and foreground privacy, support, and community connection throughout the experience.

Project Overview

In this project, I led a user-centered redesign initiative across The Mighty’s mobile app, website, and App Store presence, with a focus on creating a cohesive design language and streamlined workflows for content creation and community engagement.

Despite a strong existing user base, several experience gaps limited The Mighty’s ability to attract and support new users effectively. The non-logged-in homepage lacked a clear value proposition and did not the benefits of the platform. The logged-in homepage had an inconsistent visual design and disorganized information architecture, making it harder for users to discover resources and fully utilize key features.

Components

The resulting solutions which had refined messaging, warmer and more relatable visuals, clearer navigation, and features such as tailored onboarding, community previews, and gamified profiles worked together to create a more intuitive, welcoming, and empowering experience for both new and existing members.

Ultimately, this project views data as a storyteller—one capable of sparking meaningful conversations about urgent environmental issues.

Using datasets from Penn State’s Centre for Pollination Research, I examined rising temperatures, shifting species patterns, and increasing pollutants to uncover links between air quality, climate change, and respiratory health.
